1. Once you find a home or two that you want to see either call an agent that you have a relationship with or call a local HUD agent.

    

2. The agent will take you out on house tours to see the home or homes you are interested in.

    

3. If you find a home that you like, your agent and you will fill out the HUD paperwork, so your agent can submit your bid to HUD’s website.  

    

4. HUD has a bidding process, once the bid time is up, if an offer is accepted on the home you liked and submitted a bid on (it might be your bid or someone else’s) HUD will publish the winning bid on their website and email the agent that is listed for the buyer.

    

5. If your bid is the winning bid your agent will send all necessary paperwork to HUD.

    

6. Once the contract is executed (which means all parties agree and sign the paperwork) the inspection, appraisal and loan processing starts. Here in VA the time average is 30 to 45 days.
